Daily Prayer

Psalm40-8

Thank You, Father, for removing the wrong intentions from our hearts, for gently probing and penetrating with the light of Your truth and applying the healing gift of righteousness where there is emptiness. Thank You, Jesus, that even as You were being crucified, You said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34) We thank You, Father, for Your great patience and lovingkindness toward us, and we believe that whatever Jesus has asked, You answer. Thank You for re-directing Your anger and anguish from Your people, to Your Son on the cross, for taking the pain and destruction out of the world and putting in onto Jesus on the cross, for extracting darkness and death out of our bodies and absorbing it into Your body on the cross. You, our God, are sovereign over all space and time, and we know You are able to heal and restore our families and our land. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
We delight to do Your will, Lord, and Your law is written on our hearts. Help us to work not for ourselves, for a paycheck, or even for others, Lord, but for You and You alone. Then as our hearts are reunited and established to Yours, it is You living and working through us. You are the One others see. It is Your beauty they are drawn to, not ours. It is Your accomplishments they are impressed with, not ours. It is Your kingdom they want to be a part of, not ours. It is Your Words that bless them, not ours. Jesus, You said that because we are believers we are the light of the world, and that a city set on a hill cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14). We understand the source of that Light is You, Lord, and we pray that it would not only radiate from within us, but that we can wear it like a garment and be safe in the boundaries that You created for us from the beginning, as Husband and wife, Father and child. For we delight to do Your will, Lord. We bless the Name of Jesus, and it is in Your Name we pray. Amen and amen.

I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heart.”  Psalm 40:8 NKJV
