Bible Commentary:

Deuteronomy 7:15 is an important Bible verse that promises physical healing for God’s people. In the Book of Deuteronomy in chapter 7, God is telling Moses what blessings His people will receive for obeying His commandments. In verse 15, God specifically says that He will remove all sickness from His people.

First of all, you can know you are God’s child and fully qualified to receive His promises if you have accepted the gift of His Son to be your Saviour. God provided Jesus Christ as a gift to mankind to reconcile us back to Himself. The verse of John 3:16 tells us this. It is Jesus living in us that qualifies us for this position of prominence.

You might say, I am a believer in Christ and know I’m saved, so why am I sick or why do I get sick at times?

We must seek God for the truth to the answers we want. But for me in my life, the Lord has taught me that it is my faith that makes me well. So in order to strengthen my faith, I have followed the Lord and committed myself to a study of His word.

God is our Creator, and He said in Deuteronomy 7:15 He would remove all sickness from His people and that He would not put on us any harmful diseases. Do you believe God and His Word?

Let’s look at at the Hebrew meanings of the word “sickness” in this verse: anxiety, disease, grief, sick, put to pain, weak.

We as humans are not only sick in our bodies at times, but sick in our souls with anxiety, grief and pain. The Lord’s offer of health is bigger than we can imagine. It is comprehensive and complete through Jesus Christ, the Son.

Unlocking the Truth – Physical Healing

In recent years, my husband’s blood sugar count had risen beyond the point that is considered healthy. He was ordered by the doctor to make a radical change in his diet and continue his existing exercise program.

So, he altered his diet and cut out sugar-filled breakfasts and evening sweets. He lost a considerable amount of weight, but his blood sugar was still too high. While the doctor was pleased about his weight loss, she suggested an even more radical diet change and told him to get a glucose meter because at that point he was technically considered a diabetic.

But she would wait to put him on diabetes medicine until the results of the next blood work-up. We were both very concerned over all the implications of being a diabetic, so we put it to prayer.

A few months later on the day when he was to go and have his blood work done again, that very morning during my prayer time God opened my eyes to the fact that Jesus—as a human being—had the perfect blood.

Now let me explain why that was such a revelation to me. There is no record in the Bible of Jesus ever being sick. He was tired or weary at points, but not sick. After all, God accepted Him as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He had the perfect blood, perfect body and perfect health. He was both man and God.

Because Jesus has taken up residence in our lives, we have access to Him not only spiritually, but physically. He has granted us access to that perfect health—inside and out!

The Fullness of Christ

We have access to all of Him. He died on the cross to give it to us. Ephesians 3:11-12 says, “This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.”

In Matthew 26:26 at the last supper, He broke bread and told the disciples, “Take and eat, this is my body”. He was offering us His body, His perfect body. He was offering us His physical health.

What great gifts He has made available to us, and many times we don’t even recognize them!

Now back to my husband’s blood sugar issue. Before he left to get his blood work done that morning, I shared my new understanding with him and told him I believed that he had healthy blood. Why?

Because Jesus does.

When the doctor’s office called a few weeks later with the results, the young woman on the phone was excited to tell my husband that his glucose level had gone down considerably! He was no longer considered a diabetic!

With just a little bit of faith, my husband experienced what would have been unlikely improvement in his physical health.

Take a moment and let that sink in. As a believer in Jesus Christ, we have access to all of Him and all that He has. His body is our body. His health is our health. He offers us physical healing, yes, but also healing in our souls.

Jesus Christ is the Healing Agent.

Study the Bible verse of Deuteronomy 7:15 to deepen your faith to receive God’s physical healing. Start believing it! Be well and be healthy in Christ!
