Bible Commentary:

Galatians 5:1 is a Bible verse in the New Testament that teaches us about the freedom we have in Christ.

While we were lost, we were bound by the yoke of sin and sentenced to hell. We were in chains, bound and locked away from the will of God. It was Jesus’ mission to be our liberator and break the hold that sin, death and hell had over us.

By becoming our replacement for the guilt, judgement and punishment for sin, Jesus set us free from all those things by His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave.

Freedom in Christ

After Moses led Israel out of the bondage of slavery, they rejoiced in their newfound freedom, but soon, they encountered difficulty in the journey. God tested their faith.

Instead of believing and depending upon God to provide for them out in the wilderness, many of them eventually looked back to Egypt, wishing to return to bondage, where they could see and know where their food and water was coming from.
