continued…

…sound familiar in your life? You’re in an unsettling place, maybe somewhere unfamiliar. It feels dark and unsafe. You can’t see Jesus, and you can’t hear Him. And then the unthinkable happens. You’re scared out of your wits. But straightway Jesus speaks to you, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Jesus used this scary situation in the lives of the disciples to test their faith. They had a very important opportunity here. They could respond with faith, or fear.

Faith draws the attention of the Father, but the loud noise of fear only drowns out His still small voice and pushes it into the background. If we focus on the object of our fear, the noise only gets louder; but if we look up to God the Father while focusing on His Word, we can hear the Master saying, It is I; be not afraid.

When we hear His voice, we can shut down the fear with the truth of His Word:

…and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5b)

We can choose to believe the evidence of our sickness, which can be very convincing, or we can cling to the unseen by faith. By Jesus’ stripes we are healed.

The Stripes

We can pour ourselves into the promises of God in the Bible, or seek shelter under doctors, pills and homemade remedies. We can allow that thing to chase us, or we can stand our ground and chase it down with our faith, wielding the power of His blood.

The power of Jesus is complete. His stripes covered it ALL.

·         Diseases of the soul—broken hearts.

·         Diseases of our desires—addictions.

·         Diseases of the flesh—sickness of the body and mind.

·         Diseases of our finances—lack and scarcity.

·         Sin disease.

Let’s not wallow in pity, but deliberately choose the path of faith and stay with it, with Him. He won’t let us down. He didn’t let us down. The victory has already been won. Stand in it with Him.

He gave His life so we could have the victory, or gain in every area of our life. Remember the cross.

Let’s picture ourselves behind it where there is absolute serenity and complete safety, because of the blood of Christ. Amen! Study the Bible verse of Isaiah 53:5b, and rest in the knowledge that by Jesus’ stripes you are healed.
