…as a symbol of the blood of Jesus (1 Corin. 11:25). When Jesus died, He took captivity captive (Ephesians 4:8). In other words, Jesus took possession of the territory of Satan and his armies.

Ephesians 4:9-10 says, “Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.

“Lower” in verse 9 in Hebrew means “Hades,” another word for Hell.

When Jesus told His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for us in John 14:3, that’s what He was talking about. He went ahead into the devil’s territory (here on earth and in the heavens) and defeated him, and has prepared a place for us to be united with Him in the Promised Land.

In John 12:31, Jesus said, “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.”

Jesus overcame death, Hell and destruction–everything Satan once had in his power and authority. Jesus was victorious over Satan, pushed him out and took possession of his authority, and then sat down at the right hand of the Father.

We have the power of Jesus’ blood if we have accepted Him as Saviour, to wage warfare against the spiritual forces that come against us, and win.

Jesus’ victory is our victory.

Jesus entered into Satan’s territory, defeated him and now possesses everything that Satan has stolen from us. Yet we don’t receive restoration of those things and the fullness of God’s promises unless we are willing to fight by faith in Christ.

1 John 5:4 says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

Not only has Jesus defeated the enemy of our souls, Satan himself, but He has prepared a place in the Kingdom of God where He Himself is, so that we can be with Him in that Heavenly place.

This is a spiritual place, not necessarily a physical place. It’s a place in our spirit, our soul. He meets with us there. Our faith and His victory is the place of reunion, the place He has prepared for us. Not just after we die, but we can live in that place here and now.

Believe and receive.

Study the Bible verse of John 14:3 and pray for spiritual vision and faith. The power of God is within you.
