Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Unlocking the Truth - A Healthy Soul

God’s Word, the Bible.

Psalm 1 talks about the person who meditates on God’s Word day and night,

He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither

The person who meditates on the sovereignty of God’s Holy Word is much healthier in his soul, in his thoughts and actions. His leaf shall not wither.

That doesn’t mean we can’t watch our usual TV programs or that we have to isolate ourselves from the world, no. What it means is that as we follow a progression of better and healthier food for our souls, we can be transformed from the inside out.

If we make up our minds to be healthier on the inside, all we have to do is simply seek God. He can be found in His Word, and you’ll be surprised what opportunities and relationships He puts in your path that will lead you toward life and away from death.

Remember what happened to the roots of the fig tree? They dried up. We must make sure our roots are firmly planted and established in the living water—Jesus Christ. If we don’t, by default we dry up and wither away.

If we are planted by rivers of living water, that means we are taking in God’s Word by reading the Bible, listening to sermons and spending time with godly people.

We can’t help but produce fruit if we are taking in the holy words of life.

Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Dads and Moms, please be very careful about the words you speak over your children. Psalm 127:3 says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.”

We have a huge responsibility to be good stewards of the precious gifts He has given us in our children. The words we speak to them (and about them) have power. Speak life!

While you have influence over them, plant their roots by rivers of living water, the Word of God. Be aware that the words you speak into them, and the way you dress them is like making a deposit--either into a pool of death or into a pool of life.

Choose wisely! Invest life into them. Our investment into our children reap dividends that keep on paying into their adulthood and into the future generations of their own children and grandchildren.

That’s why our “children are a heritage from the Lord…”

Galatians 6:7 says, “…for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

So, for your sake and for the sake of the people in your life, speak life. Sow life and reap life.

Study the Bible verse of Proverbs 18:21, speak life and eat its fruit.
