Bible Commentary

Proverbs 3:5-6 is a famous Bible passage that reminds us that God is mysterious in His ways, and trusting Him is always the best path for us.

Trust in the Lord. That is the true essence of our relationship with Christ. But do we completely trust Him?

It is easy for us to trust God when He gives us what we desire. But what if He asks us to do something we’re not prepared to do? What if He asks us to give up something we really love?

The problem is this: God will oftentimes ask us to do the uncomfortable and that is where trust can become difficult for us.

Proverbs 3:5 not only tells us to trust the Lord with all our heart, but it also says to not lean on our own understanding. God looks at the whole picture of our lives, and we tend to look at the immediate.

God might be asking us to do something that seems completely crazy to us. The question is are we going to trust Him or trust ourselves?

Look at what verse 6 says, In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

What If…

What if we believe God and trust Him and simply pray this prayer?

Lord, what you are asking of me seems crazy to me. I cannot see any possible way I can do this. But Father I acknowledge You and I know Your ways are not mine, So I ask that You prepare, equip and guide me through this. Lord, go before me and make my paths straight.

Can you imagine what great things God could accomplish through us if we totally gave ourselves to Him?

Our Father never promises us an easy life as a Christian, but He does promise us a fulfilled life if we trust Him.

2 Chronicles 15:7 But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.

Take courage – If we trust God, His courage will surface in our life.

Do not let your hands be weak – Don’t stop your work for His kingdom, no matter how scary or long it seems to be taking.

Your work shall be rewarded – God will bless your faithfulness.

Our father knows we are capable of accomplishing mighty works for His kingdom and His honor if we will just trust Him, seek His will and allow Him to guide us.

Remember the next time God asks you to do what seems impossible (or maybe He is asking you now), trust in the LORD with all your heart, do not lean on your own understanding and in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
