Verse of the Day

Psalm 34:8 (NASB)

O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

Song Of The Day

Bible Commentary

There is nothing like the taste of something that is so good, that it makes your mouth water just to think about it. For me it’s a fine steak. Man, I get hungry just thinking about it!

And what about when you see something so beautiful it brings joy into your heart?! My family and I love the beach. To us there is something wonderful about the white sand beaches and the crystal clear blue water…I can just feel the ocean breeze hitting my face!

In Psalm 34:8, David is using the human senses (something we can understand) to tell us how wonderful the Lord is. He is so much better than the finest steak, or the most pristine beaches and the clearest waters.

Our Lord is the creator of all that is wonderful in this world, and I can’t even fathom how beautiful His perfect creation, Heaven, will be. Seeing colors we’ve never seen before, tasting things that don’t exist here on earth. It’s going to be mind-blowing!

David goes on to say how blessed we are who take refuge in Him. Not only is God wonderful, He is our protector. If we will simply go to Him with everything that we are and with everything we do, He will protect us.

This doesn’t mean we will have a perfect life of great steaks and beautiful beaches all of our lives. It does mean that those of us who have accepted Christ as our savior are protected from God’s final judgement and the condemnation and accusations of Satan.

There is nothing like our God. He is everything, and the protection He provides us should give us confidence and peace during the best of times and especially during the hardest of times.

Study Psalm 34:8, and taste and see just how good our Lord truly is!
