Bible Commentary

Psalm 65:11 is a Bible Verse where King David pronounces the gifts and blessings of God.

We’ve most likely heard the term “crowning achievement.” This is what I think of when I read the first part of Psalm 65:11, “You crown the year with your bounty…”

So much has transpired this past year on so many levels. As we draw nearer to the return of Jesus Christ, the church has endured many things and prevailed in many ways. This applies to our own personal lives and also to the body of Christ as a whole.

As God prepares us for the revelation of Jesus Christ, He is doing so much under the surface of what we see with our human eyes. This has resulted in storms and hardships that with His help we have faithfully endured.

He has seen our suffering and witnessed our perseverance as He helped us cross the finish line of this past year. He rejoiced in our victories and comforted us in our struggles. He delights as His children transform more and more into the image of Jesus Christ. With every willing sacrifice we offered, He accepted as He lovingly gathered us into His waiting arms.

Heaven Established on Earth

As we have patiently waited for Him, He also has patiently endured while the order of Heaven is arranged and established on earth. When Jesus prayed, Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, God set His great plan underway to reconcile Himself with His people.

It has been a great work in the making, as God operates in the undercurrent of the great waters. There has been triumph in tragedy, and victory in defeat. What looked and felt like pain and death is being transformed into healing and life.

And so we are His crowning achievement, and He is ours. Every one of our blessings and gifts is magnified as it shines with His Presence. He delights in us, and we delight in Him. He crowns our year with His bounty.

You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.  Psalm 65:11

As we continue to follow the wagon tracks Jesus established for us, our lives and our work overflow with abundance.

This is to a job well done, good and faithful servants of Jesus Christ. May your year be crowned with God’s bounty, and may the tracks of your life, both before you and behind you, overflow with abundance. Amen!
