In Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted.

continued…

The last part of Psalm 89:16 says And by Your righteousness they are exalted.

God’s lovingkindness and generosity are overwhelming. As Christ rises up through us, He exalts us by His righteousness.

Please note that we are exalted by His righteousness, and not our own. We only deserve to be exalted in Him, for what He has done for us and how He lives through us.

Let’s not glory in what we do, but on what He has done. Remember Isaiah 64:6, which says:

For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

As we strive to serve Him as children of God, we must continually keep our focus on the cross.

Our joy in serving Him can easily become a burden if we misplace our focus and begin competing with others to exalt our own name instead of His.

God Honors Us

He honors us as we grow in Him and His righteousness. His loving favor is so much sweeter than the emptiness of exalting ourselves.

Matthew 6:33 comes to mind.

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

When we get the human nature of our selfishness out of the way, He has room to flourish in our lives. In other words, we’ve got to get off the stage so He can perform.

We all want to be highly esteemed, of course. However, if the desire of our heart is for us to win more than for God to win, then we need to step back and re-evaluate our motives.

It is by His righteousness we are exalted, as Psalm 89:16 says. He delights in honoring His children, and He does so in many wonderful and amazing ways.

Study the Bible verse of Psalm 89:16, rejoice in the Name of the Lord and enjoy the reward of being honored by Him.
