Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.

Bible Commentary

Revelation 3:10 is a Bible verse from the famous Book of Revelation, where Jesus Christ promises those who have patiently endured, protection from the trials of the world.

None of us want to hear bad news. It seems to saturate the media constantly, and in order to keep some semblance of peace and happiness, I for one, try to avoid it. Maybe you do, too. However, there comes a time when we can’t hide from it anymore. Innocent civilians all over the world, unprepared and untrained, find themselves in the middle of a war they did not invoke or deserve.

The disease of callousness toward human life has become an epidemic. There is no place to hide from such a disease, except in the patient, waiting arms of Christ, our Savior.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 (KJV) says, “And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.”

Jesus Christ patiently waits for the work of the Father to be complete so He can scoop us up into the safe haven of His arms in His Kingdom. However, until then we are to abide in Him and His word. That is the only place where we can have continual rest and peace in our souls, despite what is going on around us.

Psalm 46:1-3 says,

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

God is our mainstay. Jesus Christ is our solid rock. In Him, our foundation is secure.

Psalm 46:6-7 says,

The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

A fortress is exactly what we need now in these end times, and that’s just what we have in God.

Unlocking the Truth – Hour of Trial

God speaks of the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world in Revelation 3:10. As horrific as modern-day current events are, it gets worse. Thankfully, He promises those who have patiently endured, protection from that hour of trial.

Revelation 3:10 Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.

Brothers and sisters, I hope and pray that is what we are doing every day–patiently enduring, abiding in Him and eagerly waiting for His rescue from the hour of trial. Jesus told His disciples about the horrors of the great tribulation and in Matthew 24:21-22 He said,

“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.”

These verses allude to the fact that there will be some Christians who remain through the great tribulation, and it is for their sake He shortens those days. Otherwise, no one would remain alive.

Jesus said in Luke 21:34-36 (KJV),

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

Let us seriously and faithfully abide in Him, seeking Him first every day. May we not be caught unaware.

Study the Bible verse of Revelation 3:10 and watch and pray for the coming of the Son of man.
