For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Bible Commentary

Hebrews 6:10 is a Bible verse from the New Testament which assures us that God will surely reward His saints for their work and ministry in Christ’s name.

Those of us who have made Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives minister unto Him daily. We may not even be aware of it, but when we gave our lives to Him, He works behind the scenes in and through our lives, whether we’re at home eating breakfast or at work at our jobs.

Ministry to the Lord isn’t only in church work. As Lord, He uses our relationships, communication and daily tasks all for good (Romans 8:28).

Make no mistake though. He certainly rewards with double honor those who minister and teach His great Name. 1 Timothy 5:17 says,

“Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.”

We Work for the Lord

This would include preachers, teachers and missionaries of Jesus Christ. However, we don’t have to hold any of these titles to teach the name of Christ. We can do that on a one-on-one basis with someone we meet by introducing them to Christ, or speaking about Jesus to someone we already know.

As disciples and servants of Christ, we work for Him. Hebrews 6:10 says,

“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name…”

The word “work” in the Greek means: toil (as an effort or occupation); act, deed, labour. You might not talk about Jesus every day on your job, but God uses your labor on your job for His name because you submitted your life to Him. As He presents opportunities to speak His Name, you’ll know it.

Unlocking the Truth – STAND FAST!

Let’s look more closely at labor of love. In the Greek, “labor” means: a cut, toil (as reducing strength); by implication pains: trouble, weariness.

Some of us reading those meanings can certainly relate—toil, trouble, pains and weariness. It seems we wait and wait for a breakthrough, for a great show of reward, but sometimes we get more trouble instead. For the time being, we may only see small rewards or hints of bigger ones to come, but let’s not lose heart. The big ones are coming, too. Hebrews 6:10 talks of God’s faithfulness.

“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

God knows what He’s doing. He hasn’t forgotten you. He hasn’t overlooked you or your family.

All your work, ministry, trouble and weariness will certainly be rewarded. We mustn’t fall into the pit of despair and self-pity. STAND FAST! He’s got you. He’s got this. He will faithfully reward us and honor us  when the time is right. For now, let’s tighten our grip on Him. He is pulling us through.

Stay true.

Study the Bible verse of Hebrews 6:10 and know the Name of Jesus Christ is worth it. You WILL be rewarded.
